The S&P 500 and Nasdaq saw record closes last week as cooling inflation and economic data provided a boost at least to tech favorites, though a weak performance by stocks outside the favored sectors were seen by some analysts as a mark of concern over signs of a softening economy.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished with a gain of around 189 points, or 0.5%, near 38,779, according to preliminary figures.
