NARO’s Oklahoma Convention Begins Wednesday in OKC

The 2018 Oklahoma NARO convention is being held in Oklahoma City, with topics on mineral management, estate planning, and lease negotiations.

Activities begin Wednesday with a bus tour of Oklahoma City’s adventure district followed by a tour of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. A barbecue lunch for legislators will be held. It will be held at the Devon OCU Boathouse along the Oklahoma River. Dr. Kyle Murray of the Oklahoma Geological Survey will give a presentation on petroleum production in  Oklahoma.

Jerry Simmons, Executive Director of the National Association of Royalty Owners will be one of the speakers Thursday morning at the Skirvin Hilton hotel. Oklahoma NARO President Rich Howell will kick off the Thursday session at 9 a.m. by Simmons.  He is expecting more than 250 to attend the convention.

There will also be a morning legislative update by Terry Stowers who is Legislative Chair for NARO in Oklahoma.

At noon, Dr. Bob Blackburn, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Historical Society will give a presentation of the history of the Skirvin hotel.

Afternoon sessions will focus on Mineral Management 101, Understanding 1031 Exchanges, Estate planning for Mineral Owners and Ask a Lawyer.

The Friday session will feature a National Energy talk at 9 a.m. followed by an  11 a.m. discussion by Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy on the Changing Dynamics in the Oklahoma Oil and Gas Industry.

The noon  keynote speaker will be author and attorney Bob Burke who will discuss“Oklahoma’sBeautiful Story: A History of Oil and Gas.”
