Phillips 66 has announced its intention to lay off approximately 100 employees from the Finance and Procurement sectors based in Bartlesville.
Following a tip-off received by 2 News, the media outlet approached Phillips 66 for a formal statement on the layoffs.
The oil giant clarified that as a part of their ongoing business transformation initiatives, they are repositioning roughly 430 employees and contractors. Although some will be laid off, others will be reassigned or reintegrated into new roles within a revamped company structure. This restructuring is set to predominantly impact workers at the Phillips 66 Business Operations and Innovation Center in Bartlesville, culminating in a total layoff of 175 employees and an additional 100 contractors.
In a previous report from 2022, 2 News highlighted a partnership between Phillips 66 and the City of Bartlesville. In a bid to attract talent, the oil company offered a $10,000 incentive to new hires who relocated to Bartlesville and invested in property there. This initiative successfully drew 17 individuals by the time of the article’s publication, with more expressing interest.
Phillips 66 emphasized that the layoffs are not immediate. The transition, including reassignments and layoffs, is slated to extend until 2024.
